SMART Hub Receives $345,711 NSF Grant to Lead Workforce Development Workshops in Spectrum Management
Waco, Texas – August 29, 2024 – SMART Hub is proud to announce the receipt of a $345,000 grant from the National Science Foundation Grants (NSFG) to spearhead the nation’s workforce development in Spectrum Management. This initiative will be executed through a series of undergraduate summer workshops designed to equip students with essential skills in spectrum-related issues, ranging from circuit design to policy and regulations.
Baylor University successfully hosted the inaugural workshop, called Spectrum Sizzle, on its campus in the summer of 2023, with 15 enthusiastic students participating. Building on this success, the 2024 workshop saw a significant increase, with 41 students attending.
Looking ahead to the summer of 2025, Baylor University will expand its leadership role by conducting four workshops across the campuses of Virginia Tech, Colorado State University, New York Institute of Technology, and once again, at Baylor University. These workshops are expected to attract more than 150 participants, reflecting the growing interest and need for expertise in Spectrum Management.
